Allen is a current PhD candidate at the Swire Institute of Marine Sciences, HKU. His study focuses on the biology, fisheries and conservation of groupers in the northern sector of the South China Sea . He also worked and participated in exchange programme, education programme, and terrestrial and marine ecological surveys locally and overseas. He is keen wildlife photographer both on land and underwater. His photos are widely used and commended in various competitions.
